With Hailey Bieber making them an integral part of her brand, one thing is for sure: Glazed doughnuts have crossed my mind more than ever lately. First, “glazed donut” skin took 2022 by storm thanks to the release of Bieber’s skincare line line, Rhode, which is all about giving your skin a dewy, “glazed” finish. Now, there’s another sugar-inspired trend from Bieber that has the beauty world in a choke hold: “glazed donut” nails.
Glazed donut nails look exactly like you might imagine—this trend makes your fingertips look like they’re covered in a glossy, milky frosting. The overall effect is a pearly, moonlit-white manicure that absolutely no one can stop talking about (or trying to re-create themselves).
Luckily, Bieber and her nail artist, Zola Ganzorigt, took to TikTok to demonstrate exactly what Ganzorigt does to Bieber’s nails to make them look so delectable. The secret sauce is use OPI’s Pale to the Chief. (Ganzorigt also shared a video with OPI using OPI’s Funny Bunny.) Mix it with a clear polish to thin it out, and then top it off with OPI’s chrome powder in Tin Man Can.
The problem? These colours are only available in-salon. If you look through the hashtag #haileybiebernails or #glazeddonutnails on TikTok, however, you’ll see plenty of attempts to re-create the look at home. Luckily, a few TikTokers seemed to have cracked the code for perfect glazed donut nails at home—and here are some of our favorite hacks.
TikTok Hack #1: The Layered Method
Yes, this glazed donut nail hack requires a few types of polish, but the end result is worth it. Start with a coat of base polish, and then add a coat of Essie Marshmallow, a super-sheer white polish. From there, add a thin layer of Essie Expressie FX Collection Iced Out Top Coat (a holographic topcoat), and top that with a coat of Essie Gel Couture in Fairy Tailor (a sheer baby pink). Seal it all in with a topcoat to make it last.
